No two skins are alike, so the saying goes, but a stroll down the aisles of any beauty store would suggest we’re all meant to fit into a few distinct categories: dry, oily, “combination” (which never seems to be satisfied with any product) and sensitive.
Anyone who’s spent years trying to find a product that works for them can tell you that these divisions often don’t quite work.
Enter eeshee. The brainchild of an Israeli dermatologist who realised his clients were looking for something a little more personalised, and an English mathematician, the company uses computer analysis of an individual’s skin - including its oil content, hydration level, elasticity and pH balance - to work out what ingredients will work for them.
The computer-generated list is then fed into a mini on-site laboratory, which contains a vending machine that spits out individually packaged - and organic - ingredients.
They’re then mixed and processed, with the completed product ready to go in about five or 10 minutes.
“The ingredients are the best nature has to offer and form a more potent combination than a one-formulation-fits-all cream because every eeshee product is designed to specifically target the individual’s skin requirements,” said Dr Daniel Vardy, the dermatologist behind the brand.
Such personalisation does not come cheap, however.
The eeshee Luxurious Body Butter will set you back $140, and should last you six months. It, along with the Revitalising Eye Cream ($240,) is among eeshee’s most popular products, although the range also includes moisturisers, exfoliators, cleansers and acne treatments.
