A collagen mask is simply a product (cream) you apply to your face to make it look fresh, to tone, to improve the appearance of wrinkles and to firm the skin. They are usually geared for the above 30 crowd to keep the skin younger looking. There are oodles of brands available at any drug store or discount store...all for a hefty price.

I heard there are some facial creams and masks but unfortunately they dont work so good because the size of pores are not big enough to absorp . So is there a way to encourage skin to produce more collagen i mean like from inside to outside not like injection surgery?
Borage oil, its number one. take it internally, that what I take. Now I found something else too and I want you to read.
Got a wrinkle to fill? You could fill that wrinkle with injections of bovine collagen or hyaluronic acid. Yet, is there anyway to smooth out wrinkles without jabbing your skin with needles?
You can avoid the need for the needle by optimizing your estrogen levels. While estrogen influences numerous aspects of our health, from the development of breast cancer to the development of a fetus, estrogen also determines the moisture and collagen level of our skin as we age.
Studies published by N. Grosman in the âActa Pharmacol Toxicolâ established the link between estrogen and collagen. Estrogen boosts the skinâs moisture content by increasing the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body. One of hyaluronic acidâs primary jobs is to make the skin firm and provide support for the collagen and elastin fibers that give skin a firm, youthful appearance.
You can potentially increase that amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin by increasing your intake of estrogen. For example, animal studies show that soy isoflavones protect skin against sun damage and may increase production of hyaluronic acid. Soy dishes come in a variety of options. From soy tofu to soy protein shakes food incarnations of soy are endless.
While eating your way to a firmer face, you donât want to overlook vitamin C. While vitamin C remains a potent antioxidant, it also helps your body to produce collagen.
Even though vitamin Câs beauty potential is loudly touted by the media, 33% of the US population is not getting enough vitamin C according to a 2005 survey done by the U.S. Agricultural Research Service's Food Surveys Research Group.
You can enjoy vitamin C in foods like broccoli, red or green peppers, strawberries, oranges and Brussels spouts.
Eating vitamin C and optimizing your estrogen levels are just one step in a series of things you can do to slow down the aging process. One simple tip to keep your anti-aging regime working is to ask yourself each time you eat, âIs this food protecting me from free radials and allowing my body to repair itself, or causing more free radial damage?â This way youâre sure to be eating your way to more youthful skin.

I'm a 32 Chinese gal from Singapore. Hardly use moisturer or other facial products on a consistent basis. I would like to ask you more about collagen supplements such as GNC Taut Collagen drink or Fancl collagen drink or Nature Farm's Collagen Matrix that claim to benefit not only the skin but even the joints n bones. How about facial masks, facial cream or eye mask or gel etc that contains collagen? Do they really do what they say? Some people recommend eating jelly instead since it also contains gelatin and is cheap. Any advice? I do eat fruits almost daily. You've mentioned that grape seed n skin are good. I do eat apples, grapes etc without removing the skin. However, I am worried that I am taking too much pesticide in consuming the skin as well. Is it advisable to soak fruits in water for a longer period(like 30min)? I usually just rinse them in water. Some people also mention that placenta supplements are better than collagen products. Do they really work?
Hope to get sincere, informative & scientifically accurate answers from experts. Thanks in advance for your valuable answers. P.S: Answers advertising commercial products will be given negative rating.
Yes the collagen works but get it in a capsule form. You will notive a difference in your skin, hair and nails in about 2-3 months.
Also if you want to keep the wrinkles away get a book that helps you stay that way by excercising the facial muscles.
yes it really works and is cheap. Look at the bottom of this page and you will see other books as well.
Also do try to use at least a moisturizer to keep the top layer of skin moist and prevent it drying. Dry skin will make wrinkles appear earlier than normal.
It is good to also eat the jelly but hard to keep up. Apples yes are good and it is easy not to get the pesticides in them by buying an organic brand. A little dearer but oh so worth it.
Another solution is don't eat the skin.
Take care and Merry Christmas and good luck with looking younger if you follow the above advice.

Wear a glow! Daily News & Analysis
Blush has several beauty treatments to restore skin health and add a natural glow and sheen to it. Depending on your skin's specific needs, our team of doctors will guide you through the gamut of treatments on offer and help you make the correct decision for your skin condition.
These treatments include:
Soft gel peels: These include lactic acid, salicylic acid, arginine, glycolic acid and mandalic acid to name a few. Soft gel peels can work wonders for hyper pigmentation, dark circles and to lighten the skin tone.
Peels involve applying a chemical solution to remove the outer layer of skin, so as to reveal the inner, smooth and even toned layer of skin. They can be repeated every 15 to 20 days until the desired effect is achieved. As in all cases, it is important to use a good sun block post treatment.
Fraxel skin rejuvenation: The gold standard in skin resurfacing lasers, the Fraxel laser can also be used for rejuvenation of the skin. It sloughs off old skin cells and encourages collagen and cell renewal, to make skin glow and look fresh.
Skin lightening peel: The super skin lightening peel is a Blush exclusive, and the treatment consists of two phases; the first -- that must be carried out at a Blush clinic under the watchful eye of our qualified doctors -- involves the application of a professional cream which is much like a facial mask that is left on the face for a short period (six to eight hours).
Following this, is the use of a post-treatment, home care maintenance cream that preserves the luminosity and glow of the skin, along with the use of a good sun block during the day. Besides lightening the skin tone by two to three shades or more, this treatment also improves texture and makes the skin glow. Stubborn pigmentation improves by more than 60 per cent after the first sitting and may be a little more after the second.

Why A Collagen Mask Does Not Provide Long Term Benefits
Recently, I reviewed the ingredients in a popular collagen mask. The company claimed that their ingredients were "unique", but they weren't any different from what you would find in the average collagen gel remedy.
Cosmetic companies base their claims on the idea that the collagen-fibers that make up human skin can be supplemented with collagens from fish, cows or other animals. Anyone that understands how the fibers are formed realizes that this is impossible. Production of new fibers slows down with age, because the body starts producing fewer new skin cells.
A collagen mask might provide some cosmetic benefit, but the effects will not be long lasting and it will do nothing to improve the production of new fibers. Luckily, there are other creams that we can choose from, so we don't have to settle for the short-term effects of a collagen gel remedy.
Basically, the only thing that a collagen gel remedy can do is "fill in" wrinkles and fine lines, making them "look" less deep, temporarily. If you want long-term benefits, you need more. You need ingredients that stimulate skin-cell production.
The formation of a collagen-fiber is a complicated process, but here's a very simple explanation. A skin cell secretes very short chains of amino acids, known as "pro-collagens". Outside the cells, the pro-collagens bind with additional amino acids to form tropo-collagens. Multiple tropo-collagen molecules bind together and form fibrils. Multiple fibrils bind together to form a fiber. In addition to amino acids, vitamin C is needed to complete the process.
A collagen mask contains long chains of amino acids, known as proteins. Protein molecules are too long to pass through the cellular structure and they are too long to bind with pro-collagens to form tropo-collagens. In other words, they are of no benefit to fiber production.
Ingredients that stimulate skin-cell production are beneficial, because more pro-collagens...
